Echo, explained

Ever been in a room where you can’t hear a word anyone’s saying?

No acoustics knowledge required. This is the whole thing, in plain English — what’s actually happening, why it happens to some rooms and not others, and what to do about it.

What’s actually happening

That’s echo.

Sound doesn’t just play once and stop — it bounces off every hard surface in the room, over and over, arriving at your ear slightly late from a dozen directions at once. Enough of that, layered on top of what someone’s actually saying, and it turns speech to mush. Everyone just calls it echo.

Why some rooms are fine

Soft stops it. Hard doesn’t.

Carpet, curtains, upholstery and acoustic panels absorb sound instead of bouncing it back. Bare concrete, glass and plasterboard reflect almost all of it. A room isn’t noisy by accident — it’s what’s on the floor, walls and ceiling.

No guessing

Real physics. Not a guess.

Room type, roughly how big, and what’s on the floor, walls and ceiling — four quick questions, no acoustics knowledge needed. AcoustaPLOT Echo runs the same equations an acoustician starts a project with, then checks the result against the published standard for that room’s use.

Then it tells you what to add

Not one recommendation. Five real options.

Each one quantified against the actual area it would need in your room. The decision about budget and appearance stays yours.

Class-A ceiling panels
The fastest route. Ceiling area is usually free and doing nothing.
206 m²
Fabric wall panels
83% of the job, where the ceiling can't be touched.
180 m²
Carpet and thick underlay
78%, and it fixes footfall noise at the same time.
240 m²
Heavy lined curtains
Half the job, and nothing gets fixed to a wall.
154 m²
Upholstered chairs
34% on their own — absorption that arrives as furniture.
120 seats
