A note on accuracy
Echo and Echo Studio's figures come from the Sabine and Eyring reverberation-time equations — the same statistical method taught and used across the acoustics profession, governed by BS EN ISO 3382 for reverberation and IEC 60268-16 for speech clarity (STI). Like any statistical method, it predicts a single room-average figure from volume, surface area and absorption. It assumes a reasonably even spread of absorption and an idealised room geometry, and it uses representative published coefficients unless a manufacturer's ISO 354 test certificate has been loaded for a specific product. That makes it a strong design-stage prediction, not a substitute for a measured survey to BS EN ISO 3382-2, and not a seat-by-seat prediction of how a room behaves in every position. Where a project needs that level of detail — a late reflection that only affects one row of seats, sign-off for a contentious or contractual requirement, or evidence for a planning condition — Echo Pro's ray-traced modelling, or an appointed acoustic consultant, is the right tool.
Questions people ask
Do I need a subscription?
No. If you have one room, pay £34.99 once and you get the figures and the report. The subscription is for people doing this every week, not a way of forcing everyone else into one.
What is a license?
One person. Echo Studio is priced per license because a practice with four people specifying rooms gets four people's use out of it. There is no per-project or per-room limit.
Is this a survey?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is an indicative prediction using the same standard method an acoustician starts from, meant for deciding what to do at design stage. Where a formal figure is needed, a measured survey to BS EN ISO 3382-2 is what confirms it.
How does it compare with appointing a consultant?
It does not replace one, and for anything contentious or contractual you should appoint one. What it replaces is the fortnight of not knowing whether you need to.
Can I cancel?
Monthly runs on a 3-month minimum term, then rolls month-to-month — cancel any time after that and it stops at the end of the billing period you're in. Separately, you have 14 days from taking out a new subscription to change your mind for any reason and get a full refund; that statutory right is not affected by the minimum term, not the day you cancel. Annual is paid for the year upfront, so cancelling stops the next renewal but doesn't refund the months left in the year you've already paid for. Either way, every report you've already downloaded stays yours.
