How it works
What exactly do I get for £34.99?
One room, one report. Reverberation time and speech-clarity figures for the room as it is now, five different ways to fix it if it needs fixing (rafts, wall panels, carpet/underlay, curtains, upholstered seating) each with the area it would need, and a branded report (print-ready to A4) you can hand to a client, contractor or colleague. No account and no subscription — save your own copy when you download it.
How accurate is it, really?
It uses the same statistical method (the Sabine/Eyring family of equations) an acoustician starts a project with, and the same speech-clarity method, IEC 60268-16, referenced in the standards your client will quote. That makes it a reliable design-stage prediction, not a measured survey — see "Can I use a Report for a planning submission?" below for where that line matters.
What rooms can it handle?
Any enclosed room with roughly rectangular geometry — classrooms, restaurants, church halls, gyms, open-plan offices, waiting rooms. Very unusual or highly irregular geometry (a cathedral, a concert hall) is outside what a statistical method like this is meant for. If your room is in that territory, treat any figure here as a rough order of magnitude and get a measured survey.
Does it work on my phone, or do I need a laptop?
It works properly on a phone or an iPad, not just a desktop — checked and fixed at both sizes. You can measure a room, run the check and download the report from a site visit without going back to an office.
Buying it
What's the difference between Echo, Studio and Pro?
Echo is £34.99 for one room, once — the way in if you have a single problem to solve. Echo Studio is £119 a month per license if you're specifying rooms for a living: every project, every room, and schemes saved so you can compare options side by side. Echo Pro (in development) goes further still — seat-by-seat clarity inside a room rather than one number for the whole space, for the cases where a statistical answer genuinely isn't enough.
What is a "license"?
One person. Studio is priced per person, not per project or per room, so a practice of four people specifying rooms gets four people's worth of use from one plan.
Can I cancel Echo Studio, and what happens to the reports I've already made?
Monthly has a 3-month minimum term, then rolls month-to-month and you can cancel any time after that — it runs to the end of the billing period you're in, then stops renewing. Annual is paid upfront for the year, so cancelling stops the next renewal without refunding the months already paid for. Separately, you have 14 days from taking out a new subscription to change your mind for any reason and get a full refund — that statutory right is not affected by the minimum term. Either way, every report you've downloaded stays yours; cancelling doesn't take it back.
Do you offer refunds?
Because a report is generated the moment you ask for it, we don't do change-of-mind refunds once it's been produced — but if something is actually wrong with it, that's on us to fix, and we will, or refund it. Data, payment and working worldwide
Do you store my room data?
If you buy, we keep the order record — including the room you bought a report for — for six years, so you can re-download it any time from the link in your confirmation email. If you only run the free check, nothing is stored at all. We're not building a database of your projects to sell or mine.
Who takes my payment, and is it safe?
Payment is handled entirely by a merchant-of-record payment provider — they take your card details directly, we never see or store them. That same provider is legally the seller on the transaction, which is also why local tax is handled correctly wherever you are, without you or us having to work it out.
I'm not in the UK. Does this actually work for me?
Yes — Echo is built to sell everywhere, and the standards it's built on (ISO 3382 for reverberation, IEC 60268-16 for speech clarity) aren't UK-specific. Pricing shows in GBP; your card is charged in your own currency at checkout, with any local VAT/GST/sales tax applied automatically.
What happens to my personal data?
It's used to run the service — generate your report, take payment, and get in touch if you contact support — nothing more, and it's not sold on. Full detail, including your rights to access or delete what we hold, is in the Privacy Policy.
Trust and limits
Can I use a Report for a planning or building-control submission?
You can use it to inform one, but it isn't a substitute for it. A Report is an indicative prediction for deciding what to do at design stage, not a certificate of compliance — where a formal figure is genuinely required, that comes from a measured survey to BS EN ISO 3382-2, carried out by a qualified acoustician. Most of the value of Echo is knowing, before you pay for that survey, whether you actually have a problem worth surveying.
How is this different from appointing a consultant?
It doesn't replace one — for anything contentious, contractual, or where a signed-off figure is required, you still need a consultant. What Echo replaces is the fortnight of not knowing whether you need one at all.
