How it works
What exactly do I get for £34.99?
One room, one report. Reverberation time and speech-clarity figures for the room as it is now, five different ways to fix it if it needs fixing (rafts, wall panels, carpet/underlay, curtains, upholstered seating) each with the area it would need, and a branded report (print-ready to A4) you can hand to a client, contractor or colleague. No account and no subscription — save your own copy when you download it.
How accurate is it, really?
It uses the same statistical method (the standard family of reverberation-time equations) an acoustician starts a project with, and the same speech-clarity method, IEC 60268-16, referenced in the standards your client will quote. That makes it a reliable design-stage prediction, not a measured survey — see "Can I use a Report for a planning submission?" below for where that line matters.
What rooms can it handle?
Any enclosed room — classrooms, restaurants, church halls, gyms, open-plan offices, waiting rooms. An irregular footprint isn't a problem at any tier — upload a plan (DXF, or just a PDF or photo of one) and Echo traces the real outline rather than assuming a rectangle. A flat ceiling is covered at every tier; sloped and vaulted ceilings — a church hall's open pitched roof, for instance — are modelled correctly too, and unlock on any paid plan. What does stay outside a whole-room statistical method is scale, not shape: a genuinely vast or highly unusual volume (a cathedral, a concert hall) needs Echo Pro's full geometric ray-tracing, surface by surface and seat by seat, rather than a single statistical average. If your room is in that grey zone, treat any figure here as a rough order of magnitude and get a measured survey.
What if my room already compares well with the target?
You still get the full report — the reverberation-time and speech-clarity figures, and confirmation against the relevant standard — it just won't list treatment options, because it doesn't need any. That confirmation is often exactly what you need for a client conversation or a building-control file: a prediction that the room meets the selected target under the stated assumptions, not just an assumption that it does.
Does it work on my phone, or do I need a laptop?
It works properly on a phone or an iPad, not just a desktop — checked and fixed at both sizes. You can measure a room, run the check and download the report from a site visit without going back to an office.
Buying it
What's the difference between Echo, Studio and Pro?
Echo is £34.99 for one room, once — the way in if you have a single problem to solve. Echo Studio is £149 a month per license if you're specifying rooms for a living — initial three-month minimum £447 (equivalent to £149 a month), then £149 a month until cancelled — or £70 for Studio's extra depth on just one room, once: one Studio-level analysis, delivered once, no subscription and no saved workspace to come back to (the ongoing multi-room, schemes-saved experience is what the subscription itself adds). Echo Pro goes further still — seat-by-seat clarity inside a room rather than one number for the whole space, for the cases where a statistical answer genuinely isn't enough — priced the same way, £299 a month (initial three-month minimum £897, equivalent to £299 a month), or £119 for one room, once.
What is a "license"?
One person. A Studio or Pro subscription is priced per person, not per project or per room, so a practice of four people specifying rooms gets four people's worth of use from one plan.
When am I actually charged for a Studio or Pro subscription?
Not on the day you sign up. We take your card details then, but the first payment isn't taken until 15 days later — you're shown the exact date, the amount and how to cancel before you confirm, and we email you a reminder about 7 days before the first payment is taken (annual plans also get a reminder 15 days before each renewal). For Echo Studio: initial three-month minimum: £447, collected on your first payment date. This is equivalent to £149 a month. After that initial period, £149 is collected monthly from the date three months after your first payment date until cancelled. Your access starts when you sign up and the minimum period runs for three months from your first payment date; if you cancel during it in the ordinary way no further payments are taken, access continues to the end of the period and the minimum payment is not refunded for the rest of it, without affecting your 14-day right to cancel, your right to withdraw, or your rights if the service is faulty. If you cancel any time in the first 15 days, nothing is charged. (The £34.99 one-off report is different — see "Do you offer refunds?" below.)
Can I cancel Echo Studio or Echo Pro, and what happens to the reports I've already made?
This is about the subscriptions specifically. Monthly has an initial three-month minimum, then rolls month-to-month until cancelled; if you cancel during the minimum in the ordinary way, no further payments are taken after the minimum payment and access continues to the end of that period, and after the minimum, cancelling runs to the end of the billing period you're in, then stops renewing. Annual (currently on Studio) is paid upfront for the year, so cancelling stops the next renewal without refunding the months already paid for. Separately, you have a statutory right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days for any reason — because your first payment isn't taken until day 15, cancelling inside that window normally means nothing was ever charged. Cancel after your first payment and we may keep a reasonable amount for what you've used rather than refund it in full; full detail is in the Terms & Conditions. Either way, every report you've downloaded stays yours; cancelling doesn't take it back.
Do you offer refunds?
Every paid report is checked automatically before it is released, normally within minutes. If we hold one, we update you within one working day, and if it hasn't been released within two working days of payment we refund you in full automatically. You can cancel and be refunded while a report is being held. Once a one-off product has been released to you or you have downloaded it (the £34.99 report, a one-off Studio or Pro analysis, a Decision Pack, a Brief Builder or a tool, for example), there is no change-of-mind refund, as you agree before paying, much as with a downloaded e-book. If it is faulty or does not match what we described, that's on us to put right, and we will, or refund it. Your statutory rights are not affected. Subscriptions work differently: the 14-day right to cancel applies to the subscription, and because the first payment is not taken until day 15, cancelling within 14 days means nothing is charged. Data, payment and working worldwide
Do you store my room data?
If you buy, we keep the order record — including the room you bought a report for — for six years, because we are legally required to. The links for the £34.99 report, the one-off Studio and Pro analyses, the Acoustic Brief, the Design Decision Pack and the speaker and building services tools stay open for three years from purchase; save your own copy as well. If you only run the free check, nothing is stored — unless you tick the separate, optional box to have that result emailed to you, in which case we keep your email address and that one result until you unsubscribe (one click, no sign-in needed). We're not building a database of your projects to sell or mine.
Who takes my payment, and is it safe?
Echo is supplied and sold by AcoustaPLOT Ltd. Payments are handled through Stripe Managed Payments, with Sold through Link LLC acting as merchant of record. AcoustaPLOT Ltd remains responsible for refunds required by law. The merchant of record takes your card details directly, we never see or store them, and works out the tax that applies to your order. In GBP, AUD, NZD and EUR the price you see already includes tax. In USD and CAD, tax is added at checkout where it applies, and you see it as a separate line before you pay.
I'm not in the UK. Does this actually work for me?
Yes — Echo is built to sell everywhere, and the standards it's built on (ISO 3382 for reverberation, IEC 60268-16 for speech clarity) aren't UK-specific. Pricing shows in GBP by default, and you can pay in USD, CAD, AUD, NZD or EUR. In GBP, AUD, NZD and EUR the price includes tax. In USD and CAD, any sales tax or similar tax that applies is added at checkout and shown before you pay.
What happens to my personal data?
It's used to run the service — generate your report, take payment, and get in touch if you contact support — nothing more, and it's not sold on. Full detail, including your rights to access or delete what we hold, is in the Privacy Policy.
Trust and limits
Can I use a Report for a planning or building-control submission?
You can use it to inform one, but it isn't a substitute for it. A Report is an indicative prediction for deciding what to do at design stage, not a certificate of compliance — where a formal figure is genuinely required, that comes from a measured survey to BS EN ISO 3382-2, carried out by a qualified acoustician. Most of the value of Echo is knowing, before you pay for that survey, whether you actually have a problem worth surveying.
How is this different from appointing a consultant?
It doesn't replace one — for anything contentious, contractual, or where a signed-off figure is required, you still need a consultant. What Echo replaces is the fortnight of not knowing whether you need one at all.
